Explore your creativity with our expert teaching artists! This fall, the CAC is excited to bring a variety of classes from music, photography, yoga, classical drawing, acrylic painting and much more. Registrations & Payments are due one week before the first class date.

  2. Upon completion, you may send the form via email to our Arts Education Coordinator, mail registration form to P.O. Box 2018 Douglasville, GA 30133, or drop off form by our office during regular business hours.
  3. To make a payment online, please choose your class and press the Buy Now button to complete your payment securely online. Other options for payment: mail in a check to P.O. Box 2018 Douglasville, GA 30133; drop it off by our office during regular business hours.
  4. You will get a confirmation email from us when we receive the registration form and payment.

Fall 2017 Class Offerings

Classical Drawing
Keith Wilson | Ages 7–14

Saturdays: September 9th-October 14th
Time: 10:30-12:00pm

Children will experience an introduction to drawing fundamentals and advanced techniques, using a selection of graphite and/or charcoal pencils (with supporting tools) utilizing personal photo preferences. Materials provided.

Intro to Oil Painting
Adrienne Jackson | Adults Only

Mondays: September 11th-October 16th (Session One)
October 23rd-December 4th (Session Two) ***No class on November 20th***
Time: 7:00-9:00pm

This class is an introduction to a classical oil painting technique including underpainting and grisaille with emphasis on skills development. Paintings will focus on still-life work and observational techniques that enhance a student’s understanding of realism. Previous experience in painting/drawing recommended. Materials list will be provided once registered.

Paint and Sip Night Out

Fridays: August 25th /September 29th/October 27th/November 17th/December 15th
Time: 7:00-9:00pm

Come and enjoy a jump start to your weekend with step-by-step art entertainment alongside friends, co-workers, family, etc. Light refreshments provided and feel free to bring your own as well. No experience or supplies are needed.

Focus on Photography
Shannon Belletti | Ages 16 – Adults

Wednesdays: September 13th-October 18th
Time: 6:00-8:00pm

Learn the art and science of taking great pictures through lecture and hands-on practice. By the end of the session students will know how to use their SLR camera features. Note: Film or digital SLR camera will be needed.

Hands-On HDR Workshop
Shannon Belletti | Ages: 16—Adults

Sunday, October 29th
Time: 2:00-5:00pm

Students will use exposure bracketing and digital post-processing to create stunning High Dynamic Range images. DSLR and tripod are required. Note: Laptop with Adobe Photoshop recommended but not required. Beginners are welcome to attend this class.

Beautiful Melodies – Piano Lessons
Elena Cox | All ages are welcomed

Tuesdays: September 5th – December 12th
Ongoing monthly classes
Time: 4:00—8:00pm; Specific slots are arranged with the instructor once registered.

The piano is a performance instrument and the primary goal of this course is for students to become competent, independent performers on the piano. Students will develop skills, discipline and determination to prepare for a performance of beautiful melodies. All skill levels are welcomed.

Private String Lessons
Eleanor Bennett | All ages welcomed

Mondays: August 21st-August 28th; September 11th-December 18th
Ongoing monthly classes
Time range: 3:00-8:00pm; Specific slots are arranged with instructor.

Private lessons will include technique, music reading, music theory, practice and performance. Students perform twice a year in recitals at the CAC and at various events within the community.

Artsy Eats
Mia Kubasa| Ages 6 -16 years old

Thursdays: September 7th-October 26th (Session One, Ages: 6-11yrs)
Saturdays: October 21st-December 16th (Session Two, Ages 12 – 16 yrs)
Time: 5:00-7:00pm on Thursdays
10:30-12:30pm on Saturdays

Students will be introduced to various painting techniques, fundamentals and styles attending this class. While allowing each student to express themselves creatively, a snack themed to the subject of the painting for the week will be served for further inspiration. A $30 materials fee will be paid directly to the instructor on the first day of class.

Note – Our previous instructor Kelcie Johnson will no longer be teaching The Artsy Eats series this quarter.  We are happy to announce Ms. Mia Kubasa as our new Artsy Eats Teacher.

Yoga and Chill Fridays
Taylor Ferguson | Ages 16 – adults

Fridays: September 8th/ October 6th/November 3rd/ December 1st
Time: 6:30-7:30pm

Students will enjoy this beginner friendly vinyasa yoga class. Get ready to work every muscle, ignite your breath and find your center. Sweat out your stress. New intentions will be set each month based on Yamas (yoga moral code of conducy) that students will focus on during class. Be prepared to take what you have learned and apply it to life off the mat.

Little Dreamers Acting Workshop
Courtnee Miles | Ages 4- 10 years old

Saturdays: September 9th-October 14th
Time: 1:00-2:00pm

This workshop will introduce young artists to the elements of theater through acting, character development, singing, design and team building by using their imaginations and retelling popular stories. This class is a great way to develop an awareness of personal space and to hone focus skills.
