Hands On Show

On April 16, 2016 at O’Neal Plaza, Telltale Theatre will take the stage with “Hans On!,” an original adaptation of the Hans Christian Anderson fairy tales. Telltale Theatre will have just taught at CAC’s Spring Break Art Camp and will follow that with this free, hour long show for family members of all ages to enjoy. Starts at 4PM, bring chairs or blankets to sit on.

Big Chicken Barbershop Chorus

CAC is pleased to present a Spring concert of the Big Chicken Barbershop Chorus on Sunday, April 3rd, at 3pm at the First Presbyterian Church in Douglasville. The Big Chicken Chorus is an entertaining male a cappella chorus that sings novelty songs and parodies that bring smiles and laughter to all, all in a G-rated, bright, out of the ordinary, rollicking fun type show.

If you’ve seen Barbershop singers before then you know the fun that’s in store. If you’ve never experienced barbershop singers … well, a whole new world is about to open up for you!

“Smarty Barty’s Arty Party”

It begins with Barry Stewart Mann, member of the Southern Order of Storytellers, who has told stories to children all across Atlanta in schools, libraries and festivals. In February he will perform in several area schools and on Saturday, March 5, 2016 at 4PM he invites the public to hear the story of “Smarty Barty’s Arty Party” which tells stories that highlight the value of the visual and performing arts with music, dance, art, puppetry, audience participation, and fanciful bits of Seuss and Silverstein as well. The show is about an hour long, free, on O’Neal Plaza in Downtown Douglasville (inside CAC will be used if the weather is too cold or wet). Everyone's invited!

Next, the Piccadilly Puppets will host a puppet workshop as part of the Mad Hatter‘s Tea Party on Saturday, March 19th from 11AM-3PM. They will have just completed four school performances of their show about water, “Splish, Splash.”

A family performance for all ages to enjoy! Delight in watching puppet animals roller skate, juggle, dance and even lift weights. Bring a chair & spend the afternoon on O’Neal Plaza in Downtown Douglasville.

NOVAS [National Open Visual Arts Show]



NOVAS 2016


We are calling for artists to submit work for the 6th annual National Open Visual Arts Show [NOVAS] – an exhibit showcasing a wide variety of high-quality art from around the country, bringing national perspectives to our community located on the edge of Atlanta. The exhibit will be on display from September 1st through the 29th of 2016, with a special opening reception on Thursday, September 1st from 6-8 pm at the Cultural Arts Council.

Wednesday, June 15 - all digital files and the entry fee are due.
You may apply through the following options:

Artists 18 years and up are eligible to submit original paintings, sculpture, hand-pulled prints, ceramics, drawings, fiber, photography, and original glass creations. Film, video, and molded or kit items are not eligible for this exhibit. Reproductions of artwork will not be accepted. Work accepted must remain on view for the entire exhibit, no exceptions.

Saturday, March 19, 2016 was the magical Mad Hatter's Tea Party, where this year the Piccadilly Players hosted a puppet making workshop alongside the flamingo croquet, story-telling, cookie-decorating, egg-hunting and tea-partying fun!
