HELP SHAPE THE FUTURE OF THE ARTS IN OUR COMMUNITY

Community-based Cultural Planning Survey on www.artsdouglas.org

Douglasville, Georgia – The Cultural Arts Council of Douglasville/Douglas County will complete its current long-term strategic plan in May. In order to include community interests, needs and opinions about arts activities, community events and cultural programs in its next five-year Strategic Plan, the Arts Council is working with consultant Lisa Mount of Artistic Logistics who has created a short survey now available on the CAC web site, www.artsdouglas.org. The survey will be posted until March 7th, 2008.
Survey respondents are asked about what they consider priorities in terms of a wide variety of programs currently offered by the Arts Council, and what programs for schools, classes and workshops, facilities and other arts activities they would like to see developed in Douglas County in the future. All survey responses are anonymous and confidential.  The results of surveys will be used to determine community involvement and opinion with the arts in our community – and help the Cultural Arts Council establish programming priorities through 2012.  The City of Douglasville and the Downtown Development Authority will also use the survey results to consider how to best support arts and culture in our community.
The mission of the Cultural Arts Council of Douglasville/Douglas County is to nurture, guide and stimulate the enjoyment of and participation in the arts among residents of and visitors to Douglasville and Douglas County.  The Cultural Arts Center, housed in the historic Roberts-Mozley home, is located at 8652 Campbellton Street in Douglasville, Georgia, about 20 miles from Atlanta and just off I-20 (exit 36 – Chapel Hill). Hours are Mondays through Fridays, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sundays, 1 until 5 p.m. The Cultural Arts Council is supported by its members and sponsors, the City of Douglasville, Douglas County Board of Commissioners, Georgia Council for the Arts, and the National Endowment for the Arts, which believes a great nation deserves great art.
