Douglasville, Georgia – In partnership with the Downtown Development Authority, the Cultural Arts Council of Douglasville & Douglas County presents the 2008 Taste for DOUGLASVILLE Arts, now in its thirteenth year and better and bigger than ever before --- and an event no one should not miss!  Arts and crafts vendors and artists groups, area restaurants, and local businesses can contact the Cultural Arts Council (770-949-2787) now to request vendor, restaurant and sponsorship packets and register to participate in Douglasville’s most popular annual downtown event.

Douglas County Art Guild Show AT CAC

Recent works by Current Members on Display

Douglasville, Georgia – The Cultural Arts Council of Douglasville/Douglas County presents recent works -- drawings, paintings, photographs, collages, prints, stained glass, turned wood, jewelry, ceramics and even decorated gourds -- by current members of the Douglas County Art Guild in its May exhibition at the Cultural Arts Center in downtown Douglasville. The pieces on display represent the diverse achievements of many local whose explorations of contemporary aesthetic directions present a wide range of artistic perspectives. The exhibition opens May 1st and will be on view through May 30th.  Hosted by the Douglas County Chamber Singers, the reception will be held on Thursday, May 1st, from 6 until 8 p.m. This event is free and open to the general public. more>>


an All-IRISH SPRING

Free Concerts on Douglasville’s O’Neal Plaza in May  

Douglasville, Georgia – The Cultural Arts Council of Douglasville/Douglas County is pleased to present its annual Spring Concerts on the Plaza at the O’Neal Plaza in historic downtown Douglasville on Saturday, May 3rd, Saturday, May 10th, and Saturday, May 24th.  All evening performances begin at 7 p.m. The 2008 spring series showcases an all Irish spring with the Buddy O’Reilly Band playing traditional Irish tunes, Póg! performing contemporary Celtic music, and Keltic Kudzu exploring the Celtic roots of many Southern music traditions. Sponsored by the Irish Bred Pub, these special outdoor events are free and open to the general public. 2008 SPRING BREAK ARTS CAMP: CAC's 5th Annual Intensive Arts Camp at Deer Lick Park

Douglasville, Georgia - The Cultural Arts Council of Douglasville/Douglas County and the Douglas County Department of Parks and Recreation are pleased to offer the fourth annual intensive arts camp at Deer Lick Park, from Monday, April 7th, through Friday, April 11th. Children, 7 - 11 years old, will explore a wide variety of art disciplines including ceramics, design, cartooning and painting with expert and experienced teaching artists. Campers (a total of 50 can be registered) are divided into five groups of ten by age. Camp begins at 9 a.m. and continues until 4 p.m. Early drop off (8:30 am) and late pick up (5:30 p.m.) can be arranged at no additional fee with the Parks and Recreation staff. Fees for the week are $50 for this first child ($45 for CAC members) with a $5 dollar discount for siblings. Space is limited, so reservations must be made by calling CAC at 770-949-2787 or Deer Lick Park at 770-920-7129. more>>


SHARED VISIONS

Reception for Shared Visions: The art of Judy & Ken Callaway will be on view from April 3rd through the 27th. Reception for the artist, hosted by the Douglas County Women Realtors Association will be held April 3rd, from 6-8 p.m. at the Cultural Arts Center. The reception is free and open to the public .

DOUGLASVILLE'S 12TH ANNUAL GEORGIA COWBOY POETS GATHERING: "Ole Friends and Good Saddles"

Douglasville, Georgia - The Cultural Arts Council of Douglasville/Douglas County is pleased to sponsor its 12th annual Georgia Cowboy Poets Gathering at the Mashburn Center for the Performing Arts on the campus of the Douglas County High School on Saturday, March 1st. The evening performance begins at 7 p.m. Showcasing local performers and members of the Douglas County Cowboy Poets, cowboy musician, singer and guitarist John Howle, and the Double H Wranglers, this special event is presented by the Douglas County Cowboy Poets in partnership with the Cultural Arts Council. Tickets are $12 per person ($10 for CAC members, seniors and students. more >>
